Defective Accessible Parking Layout
It is possible to design parking so completely out of the required specifications that the only thing that is compliant with the ADA is the signage. This is pretty close to that level of design failure. Under ADA and ANSI 117.1 accessible parking is required to have an access aisle between the two spaces and a ramp going to the level of the parking from the walk. Parking spaces are required to be "level" meaning that they must not exceet 2% slope in any direction. If both accessible spaces are for cars then the pathway must be at least 5 feet wide. If either one is van accessible then the access aisle must be 8 feet minimum in width. The access aisle must not exceed 2% slope in any direction and cannot contain the ramp within it.
